4 to K — Kindergarten Readiness
Ages: Year before eligibility for kindergarten
Student-to-Teacher Ratio: 10 to 1
Teacher: Teresa Lang
The 4 to K program emphasizes social and academic school-readiness skills. While the program meets all day, every day, you can enroll your child on a part-time basis. Don’t worry. The flexible curriculum means that your child won’t “fall behind” even if he or she attends only a few days each week. The structured part of 4 to K runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Care for your child is offered before and after these times so that pick-up and drop-off is not an issue.
Daily components of 4 to K include:
- Curriculum based on the assessed needs of the class – pre-reading and early math skills are emphasized
- Art and music
- Group time (News, calendar, weather)
- Story time
- Computer time
- Outdoor play (weather permitting)
- Lunch and snackĀ (included in the hourly fee)
- Interaction with residents and tenants of St. John’s Circle of Care
- Special holiday celebrations and field trips
